Science Fiction, Poetry, and More
Margaret Fieland is the author of Relocated, a science fiction book for teens and Sand in the Desert, a poetry book for teenagers and adults. She one of the Poetic Muselings, authors of the Lifelines Poetry Anthology, a book of poems for life transitions.
A long-time science fiction fan, I wrote Relocated in 2010.It's one of those science fiction books for teenagers my kids would have enjoyed. I read a lot of books for boys when I was a teen, especially science fiction books.
In Relocated, Keth, my fourteen-year-old boy main character, finds himself whisked away to an alien planet with a desert landscape, on a military base where his father must root out a nest of terrorists. Keth uncovers layers of secrets about himself and must decide what his values are and how he wants to live his life.
I wrote a volume of science fiction poetry along with the novel. The poems in Sand in the Desert are persona poems. They were written in the voice of a spiritual leader of the Aleyni, my alien race. Eight of the poems appear in the novel. They articulate their spiritual values in the form of prayers and spiritual poetry. This was my first collection of speculative fiction poetry, but I'm sure it will not be the last.
Lifelines Poetry Anthology, contains poems to help with life transitions, and share a poetic lifeline with the world.
